This past week was busy! We spent plenty of time at various playgrounds, but we also spent time with some family and friends. Josh turned 8 weeks old and Derek returned to school (after a few weeks off for Winter Break)!!
Derek, doing a "handoff" with Seth, who taught him this during our New Year's party.
Adam, Derek, Seth - resting at the park.
Derek plays at a park with some classmates:
Which slide should I choose?
Derek decides to go for the side one this time!
VERY interested in this "spiderweb" since Bauby and Derek usually swat down spider webs in our backyard.
Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooal.
Hanging at Grandma and Papa's:
Counting (fake) fingers.
Derek takes a closer look at Josh's little ears.
Daddy and Josh, hanging out.
Grandma trusts Derek walking around with this gem! She must've known what's up...because he didn't let one drop fall!
Bubby and Zaide stopped by for dinner -- here's everyone working together to make a great Tilapia Dinner!
Babysitter Emily stopped by to meet her new client and visit with her old:
SO excited!
An instant connection.
Josh fell asleep right on Emily!
Emily still loves Derek, even if he pronounces her name as "Enemy."
The Barbag Boys often goof around together:
It always starts tame...
And then turns to something like this!
In the middle of the week, we went to Grandma and Papa's house for
dinner. Usually, after dinner, Grandma bathes Derek. Mommy walked in
to see if Grandma needed a towel for Derek, and this is what she found:
GRANDMA in the TUB!
Needless to say, Mommy went to get two towels!!!
After bath time, Papa enjoyed time with his Grandsons:
First he flew Joshua around.
Then he rowed a boat with Derek.
Lastly, he hitched a piggyback ride on Derek's back!
On Friday Derek was Shabbat Abba (since Mommy was in the hospital after Josh's birth for the first time he was assigned this special task, this was the first time she got to join him in his classroom). It was a very special day and Derek and Mommy had a lot of fun together!
Ready for school!
Holding onto the rope and staying in line!
The Shabbat Abba!
Tastes delicious.
Kissing the Torah.
Studying up for his Bar-Mitzvah. One can never start too soon!
Getting ready to dance with the Shabbat Imma.
Watch Derek, the Shabbat Abba, dance with the Imma!
Sitting patiently waiting for snack.
Derek's class learned about the 5th day of creation with Birds (they had an exotic bird show)!
Miss Lani helps the bird onto Derek's hand/arm - he was SO brave!
Derek shows the bird lady the "black bird outside."
Derek and Mommy were invited to stay for an extra class where they participated in Israeli Dance! It was great fun!!!
Derek has been having some fun with Josh this week. There are times it's hard on him (like when Cherry called Josh "honey," which is Derek's nickname from her...he started to cry, poor guy). All that aside, Derek loves his brother and enjoys playing with him and telling his Mom when Josh is crying, sleeping, or needs to be fed!
Derek was happy to share his Mickey and Sock Doggy with Josh while he played on his mat.
Mommy and Derek make a Josh sandwich!
Anyone want a quick nap on the couch?
Another night with Grandma and Papa (we sure are lucky to live so close)!
Josh snuggles up with Papa
Derek wanted to play on Grandma's computer. So, we played a little game of "find the letter," so he could spell out his name!
He loved it SO much, we did his entire name!
Since Derek was Shabbat Abba, we were sent home with a Shabbat Bag! We said all of the prayers and had a great Shabbat dinner.
First the prayer over the candles (with eyes covered, of course)!
Then we raised our glasses of wine (grape juice)!
And then Derek's favorite...the Challah!
Josh was pretty captivated by the whole thing, too.
Daddy explains Shabbat to little Josh.
After dinner we had another round of bath, pj's, and goodnight fun:
Papa helps Derek find his hand (in his new jammies)!
Josh couldn't stay awake long. Like his brother, they really prefer to sleep on their tummies (if only we could put them down that way)!
Daddy's happy if Josh is happy!
Papa is happy if Derek is happy!
And Derek is happy flying around with Papa!
Mommy finally was able to capture Joshua smiling (unfortunately it was at about 4 in the morning, so the picture is really dark):
Smiley Josh.
The next morning, Derek picked out his breakfast:
And Josh was a happy camper, too:
Waaaaaaaaasssssssssssaaaaaaaaaapppp?
Michael Jordan impersonation.
Joshua is officialy 8 weeks old and "exploring" so many new things each day:
Mom trying to catch Josh with a smile.
Mom thinks I look cute in my hat (outfit provided by our neighbors)!
What?! Other people are going to see me in that hat?!
One last thing before we go....Uncle Ari used to obsessively line up his matchbox cars when he was a little boy. We think it may be genetic:
