Our First Illness

Well it took Derek over 3.5 years and Josh over 1.5 years to have their first illness (sick enough that they actually needed medicine)!  Derek complained of his ear hurting and Josh was tugging at his ear, but not really complaining (we figured he was teething).  Turns out each of them had ear infections (not swimmer's ear).  Considering the bad news, the good news was they could still do water activities because it was not swimmer's ear!  So, Josh could continue with swim lessons, and Derek could go on the cruise and not have to sit out of anything.  But, both boys had to be on penicillin for 10 days.

The day before we went to the doctor, Derek passed out mid-play.  Guess that should've been out first hint he wasn't feeling well!

The boys practice singing Josh's new favorite song - hooray for my friends!

Again, not feelings great....

So, we went to Dr. Cohen's office.  He was on vacation, so we actually met with Dr. Scheinker.

Yeah, they look like they don't feel well.

Nothing but trouble while waiting :)
So, we carried on with the rest of the week as usual.  Derek went back to camp after he felt better and Josh continued with his classes and swim lessons:

Here's the progress from week 2 of ISR for Josh:

After we went to class, swim, and the doctor's office, we headed down to Hollywood to see our family that was arriving!

Josh enjoys his new books -- thanks Bauby and Zaide!

4 generations of fun!

Adaya and Josh had SO much fun together!

Josh checks out Bauby's hat to make sure it's cruise-appropriate.  Passes inspection!

More on the cruise weekend next....
