Almost two years ago, Derek accompanied Mommy on a professional development opportunity at Harvard's Project Zero in Boston. Mommy had a great opportunity to get to know some great colleagues while at this trip (mostly from the lower school, which she does not often get to see during the school year). While on the trip, the ladies spent a great time looking for frozen yogurt. So, naturally, when we decided to have a mini PZ "reunion," we did it at a frozen yogurt joint! (Note: Josh is about as old as Derek was during the original PZ outing). But, first Derek and Josh went to Daddy's office to visit the girls, and then had lunch with Heidi (Mommy's work partner). Because it was such a good time, we forgot to take pictures!!! So, you'll have to enjoy our fro you adventure instead!

Then there was more fun with friends. Mommy's and Daddy's college friends, the Navarette's, came by. Their three kids had fun with the Barbag Boys.
First they played with all the toys, then they attacked the backyard toys and swimming pool, and lastly they read books. It was a fun time for all!

Derek has been into a fun PJ Library book, This is the Challah. The end of the book has a recipe for Challah, so Bubby, Mommy, and Derek decided to give it a try. It was a fun Shabbat with homemade challah!

This past weekend, the boys visited Mrs. Ruth and Dr. Derek (since Daddy worked on Saturday and Mommy had an appt), then we had a wonderful dinner at the Karasik's (along with the Bittles)!

We end our week by celebrating one of Derek's classmate's third birthday. Happy Birthday, Landon! Derek truly enjoyed this birthday because it was a Monster's University Theme (and Mommy and Daddy let Derek watch Monsters Inc. during one of the most recent rain storms - mostly because they want to let Derek try a movie in a theater, but they weren't sure if he was ready or not) --- we'll probably give it a try next weekend! In any case, Derek was totally into the theme, loved the gymnastics at the party, and enjoyed helping Landon celebrate by playing with all of his friends!

Lastly, we'll leave you with a few more "Derek-isms."
Lately, whenever Derek asks for something, it's always "just a little" whatever. Examples include:
"Let's watch an Octonauts. Just a little episode." FYI, Derek has really learned some great things from this show -- the previous week Derek's camp theme was Pirates and Derek decorated a pirate's ship with all sorts of things, including "a sea urch" (aka Sea Urchin, which he learned from Octonauts).
Derek also likes listing two possibilities of things. Example:
"Let's watch an Octonauts and watch a Little Einstein's. That's two options."
He also likes to have conversations. Example:
"Bubby, let's talk about Mayonaise." Bubby responds with all sorts of fun tidbits about mayo. Derek then responds with, "that's interesting."
On the way to Landon's Birthday Party (which was at Twister's Gymnasium), Mommy was telling Derek we were going to Twister. Derek got confused because "Twister is at home." Mommy forgot we had played the twister game at home. She had to explain to him that this was Twister Gymnasium and not a game. When she finished explaining, Derek said, "That's interesting!" Mommy asked him where he learned this new word, and he proudly said, "I taught it to myself!"
