If you'd like an idea of what Derek has been up to all summer at camp, check out the Camp Keshet Video! (Derek is featured at 1:15...if you only want to see his smiling face)!
He was also Shabbat Abba along with his friend, Landon!
Angry Abba?
So happy to run into his old friend!
Derek also has Color War at camp this week. He's had fun on the blue team -- but it sure is exhausting!
Josh suggests eating a hearty breakfast to increase Derek's energy level.
As cute as these boys are, they are not just another smiling face. They have great senses of humor, too!
Sometimes it is coerced by their parents, but sometimes it comes naturally, too. Here's a comment Derek shared with Cherry the other day, "I'm on a dangerous mission. I can't tell anyone about it...not even my friends. So, I need a BIG flashlight." (This is how he persuaded Cherry to reach up high for our BIG flashlight.
Indeed, he does know how to tell a good joke, too:
(Make sure to turn on the CC, if you can't understand it all!")
Daddy entered a 5k, and, although he finished with a fine time, he was outranked by a 7 year old that outran most of the racers! Unbelievable!!! We enjoyed some playground time during the first part of the race and met Daddy at the finish line.
Driving the bus to the 5k
Enjoying the BIG swing!
Waiting for Daddy -- with the Birthday Boy!
Congrats, Daddy-o! You did great!
After the race, the Schank's came back to our house for dinner and some celebratory cupcakes. Happy 1st Birthday Lucas! We're so glad we were able to celebrate with you!
Seriously...
could he be...
any
cuter?!
The birthday boy gives it a try -- and loves borrowing our 'party animal' hat!
You think he was tired?
Still looks cute.
But he cleans up well, right?
Not only did we get to celebrate with Lucas on his actual 1st birthday, but we also were able to enjoy his birthday party!
Veggies and Chips with Lindsey to start!
Alli and Derek really enjoyed the pool.
Josh preferred eating in the shade.
Thanks, Courtney, for the HUGE piece of cake!
He ate ALL of the frosting.
But, that wasn't the only birthday celebration....Roberto celebrated his 75th birthday and let us come over to help him celebrate:
We hope all your birthday wishes come true!
The happy (and adorable) couple.
We'll let you guess who decorated their face first:
Because Josh had so much cake, he definitely needed to work it off. So, he had his 5th week of ISR swimming.
Ms. Liz said it's time to test him! So, he had his out-tests this week (first day in summer clothes and the second day in winter clothes - long pants, long sleeves, hoodie, and regular diaper -- those things really can hold a lot of liquid and get super heavy). We now are confident Josh could self-rescue, if caught in a horrible situation:
By the way, Mommy is now in her third trimester! (How did that happen already?!)
28 weeks
Right after this shot was taken, Josh ran up to the wall to pose with his new baby (the swim medal):
Lastly, we had a quick visit from Uncle Brian. We wish Auntie Shana and Uncle Brian VERY happy birthdays as they both celebrate in the next couple of days!!!
