It's hard to believe, but Mommy's Maternity leave has officially come to an end! Ready or not, here she goes...back to work!
We haven't updated in quite a while (LOTS of goings on)...so, here's a looooooooong one:
3 Months Old
Recently, 2/15/13, Josh turned 3 months old:
Wait, what?! I'm 3 months old???
LOTS OF VISITORS
We have had a lot of memorable events in the past couple of weeks...so, without further adieu....
Bauby M and Zaidy Shelly were in town....and, since they were in town, Aunt Shana and Uncle Brian decided to stop in for the weekend! Of course, since a lot of the family was in town, the Godfathers (Aaron and Eric) decided to come, too! Well, they were planning on coming anyway...but it just so happened this all occurred during the same Presidents' Day weekend.
Friday night began with a fun tot Shabbat:
Made ya look!
I think Zaidy is more excited about services than Josh!
Nothing like a post-shabbat dinner hug-sesh!
The next day, we headed down to Hollywood to hang out, but first Mommy and Daddy had some things to do, so Aaron and Eric watched Derek and Josh!
Eric has serious conversations with Josh.
Such a sweetie.
Then, down to Hollywood we go...
Auntie Shana teaches Josh how to use a cell phone.
Uncle Brian, Aunt Shana, and Derek go on a "nature walk."
Zaide shows Derek how to open a coconut.
Uncle Brian helps Derek drink coconut milk.
With all this company in from out of town, we, naturally, had to have a visit to the Rustic Inn. Daddy wasn't thrilled to eat there, but the rest of us were!
Hmmmm, what to order....
I'll just try a little bit of everyone's! Yummy clam chowder!
Fish sticks taste good, but they're more fun with a crab claw.
Daddy is not very excited about this!
Open up....here it comes!
Look out Aunt Shana, those claws are sharp!
Daddy's safe haven, feeding Josh off to the side.
Nobody can escape...THE CLAW!
Chowin' down on some garlic crabs!
WOAH, those are garlicky!
Just hangin' out watching everyone enjoy the food.
Wishing a happy birthday to someone! Derek loved the hammers!
Shana loved the hammers, too, until Aaron's hammer hit the crab and squirted all over Shana!
Aaron gives Mommy a bit of a surprise!
The next day we spent relaxing with family....well, Derek had us all bunched together in his bedroom!
Brothers hanging out.
Baubles (and Zaidles) hanging out.
Uncle Brian gets some special decorations from Derek.
Josh looks on in disbelief.
Not quite....maybe a different hat.
Aunt Shana protects Josh from the cruelty.
The finished product!
Mommy with Josh.
Zaide Shelly and his Great Grandboys!
Of course, what would family time be without a trip to Hollywood?
Uncle Brian holds Joshua.
Playing Pat-a-cake.
Uncle Brian attempts some crazy tongue twisters before nap time.
Josh finds his very own personal clown.
Derek picks some flowers for Bubby,
keeps one little flower for himself,
and helps Bubby arrange all of them!
Of course, that builds up an appetite!
Back to Boca....
A's pocket makes a really good hand-warmer.
Aaron with Josh
Josh with his Bubby and Bauby!
Aaron says, "Safety First!" You never know when one of those toy cars will come flying at your head!
Since Aaron and Eric were in town, Grandma kindly offered to babysit, so Mommy and Daddy could have a night out with the guys!
Grandma carries Derek around in a tote (sorry, G-ma, I think he's too big for this now)!
We came back from our dinner and a movie, to find Grandma snuggling with a sleepy Josh.
The next morning was a laaaaaaazy morning...
Derek snuggled on the couch.
Eric decided to join!
Goofy boys?
Here's a nice one!
Eric is so good with the babies...
...they fall right asleep on him!
Aaron on the other hand....
...lets our son erase the chalkboard with his face (thus having him look like a Coke Addict - since he ultimately ran around the house in a hyper frenzy)!
Grandma has been working hard on some beautiful blankets, so we all headed over to check out her work! Of course, Derek wanted to show off his trampoline!
"Flying" with Grandma is so fun!
Derek bounces with the balls.
Snuggle time.
Josh soon after rolling from his back to his belly.
Story time with the Godfathers before they head back to DC.
Poot.
Lovin' his Cherry!
Zaidy Shelly and Bauby M visit us in Boca.
Go Cubs, Go!
Bauby tells a great story!
Josh hangs out with Bubby.
The best maître d' in town.
The boa constrictor gets Derek!
Of course, not all of our fun is spent with family...sometimes we make time for friends, too!
Maizy meets Josh.
Corrie tries out two at once! :)
This particular week ended with Derek getting a haircut and Josh watching:
Happy to see Derek's mane get tamed.
Derek got to sit in a train and watch Mickey on TV while getting his hair cut!
SINGING IS A WAY OF LIFE
Of course, Derek continues to go to school and learn so many new things. He also loooooooves to sing songs. Here is Derek's rendition of "Shabbat Dinosaur:"
Lyrics: There's a Dinosaur, knocking at my door. He's knocking one, two, three (echad, schtayim, shalosh). There's a Dinosaur, knocking at my door. He's come to spend Shabbat with me. First we light the candles, then we drink the wine. Then we eat the Challah, it tastes SO fine! There's a Dinosaur, knocking at my door. He's come to spend Shabbat with meeeeeeeeee.
MORE VISITS WITH FAMILY
Josh has really been growing, growing, growing. The pictures below are of him at 15 and 16 weeks old. Derek is a wonderful older brother and loves mimicking all of the sounds Josh now makes (in addition to him turning over from back to belly):
Derek rocks Josh to keep him calm while in the carseat.
Derek rides the dog at Bubby and Zaide's house.
Ryan and Cousin Sara visit us before a cruise!

Josh is flipping all over the place!
Daddy loving Josh early in the morning.
Trying to change Josh can be a challenge...
...but only when he's trying to roll over on ya!
Derek keeps his brother happy while breakfast is being made!
A WHOLE LOTTA HAMAN
Derek celebrated Purim at school. He dressed as the hated King Haman! His teacher, Miss Lani, said, "It's the first Haman I've ever loved!" The parents were invited for a Purim Experience...it was fun to see how the kids learn through play!
Complete with a beard and mustache!
Checking out his facial hair and loving it!
"Hi Mommy!"
Coloring on tinfoil.
Playing with rice the kids dyed in class.
Playing with objects on a sticky wall.
Peeling and placing stickers on the box.
Sorting with Mommy.
Playing and sharing with school friends.
Dot, dot, dotting the wall.
Adding his own touches to the wall mural.
Practicing fine motor skills is most fun with bubble wrap!
Haman's turn to slide!
Making noise with his groger!
It's hard to get Haman to walk the red carpet...he just wanted to run!
Time for snack. Derek follows Miss Lani's directions to fold hands.
Yummy hamantaschen, made by Derek and his classmates.
Good to the last drop!
Miss Michele and Derek, two Hamans!
Post snack - more time to play and explore!
Building the city of Shushan.
Fun with blocks.
Derek loved playing with all of the Princesses...so, naturally, we dedicate this shot to Cousin Laila. May the toys be plentiful the next time we're together...otherwise, I see a quarrel in our future! :)
The future is bright for these kids. So much fun learning through play. Everyone had a great time! It was really neat seeing how all of the kids learn at school each time.
Of course, we ended our time together with music and dance!
Still rocking his beard, Derek shows us the proper way to enter/exit a restaurant....under the sign, naturally!
AS IF ONE VISIT AT SCHOOL WASN'T ENOUGH
Derek was Shabbat Abba...again! I suppose, with only 4 other boys in the class, this is bound to happen! It's the last time Mommy will be able to visit Derek at school this year.
The Abba
Getting called up to the bima.
Gabi and Derek...such great friends...and such trouble makers together!

At 15 weeks old, Josh gives a mean Alfred Hitchcock impersonation.
Fun with Daddy.
Hanging with Bubby.
Warm and swaddled up...trying to get out!
Grasping fun toys.
Chillin' with Zaide.
MICKEY AND MINNIE....VAN?!
That's right. We bit the bullet and bought ourselves a minivan! We got rid of the twelve year old, two door, 140,000 mile Accord Coupe and bought a new van. It's sooooooo spacious! We don't have any pictures to post of it, but we have one cool dude, who likes to rock his shades while riding in it!
MORE VISITORS AND VISITS...
Emily stopped by for a baby fix (she can't wait to babysit these boys again)!
Derek and Josh have a dance off!
Yummy grilled cheese with Grandma!
Derek loves his Cherry!
A visit to Daddy's office so the girls can have a baby fix, too! And, lucky for us, Courtney stuck around for a visit!

What a busy day...let's cuddle and read The Gruffalo.
That's enough to make anyone happy!

Daddy and Jake bond.
Derek helps Jake get comfortable.
Derek plays the Piano at the Bittles (no pictures, please):
Bari's 5th birthday party celebration:
This was Derek's reaction to Ziggy the Clown (for the entire hour he presented). It was tooooo funny!
We had a great time at the party!
It may be Spring Break...but I can't keep these NB teachers away! They just want to see the little guys!
Stacey had fun playing!
Orlene plays with Derek like he's one of her own Grandkids! Such fun!

16 weeks old...grasping things, smiling, rolling over, and laughing!
Big Brother teaching Little Brother so many things...
Derek teaches Josh how to wave.
Love catching Derek staring -- he is still amazed by Josh!
And Josh stares at Derek, too! Amazed? Or just looking out for safety?
Derek loves playing with Josh - especially when he "visits" in his room!
Where'd Derek go?
Peek-a-boo! There he is!
What? Where'd he go again?!
We hope you made it through this super long post. The Barbags have been having so much fun lately, we have to remember to take a moment to document and post all of what has been going on! We thank all of our family and friends for sharing in these memories. Please come again soon! Come one, come all, come any time!!!
