For months now, Adam has become obsessed with traveling to see and photograph a total eclipse. Of course, that would be the weekend before Mommy's back to work! The boys split time with Grandma and Papa and Bubby and Zaide - and when you see the exciting things they did, they may never want Mommy and Daddy to return!

The Marshalls met us in Charleston and we had a phenomenal time with these great cousins!!

The humidity in Charleston in August is INSANE! I think we took at least 2 showers each day!! But, we clean up nicely, don't we??
The next day we took a boat to Fort Sumter (where the American Civil War began) -- and even got the chance to raise the flag!

Now for the real reason we went on this trip...the eclipse at totality!! It was beginning to get cloudy in Charleston so we decided to head further inland to a place called I HAVE NO IDEA. And boy did we luck out! We went into this small town, found a playground/blacktop near a church and battened down with all of the locals. It was spectacular!

"Sunset" from above --- in the middle of the day.
It really was very eerie to watch the sunset from above in the middle of the day. There was a hornets next nearby and they went CRAZY once the "sun set."
On the way back our flight got cancelled and we had to drive back through the night. What should have taken 8 or 9 hours took nearly 12 hours. We got back around 5 in the morning, just in time to take an hour and a half power nap before getting back to work! Phew! We made it!!!
